Post war repro and they went through the trouble of machining/threading the studs? That's a first.

I'm not so sure that the studs may not have been added during the casting. Look at the base of the pictured stud where it seems to be sectioned into the back. Maybe this maker did this late in the war. I think the studs were part of the casting process and not added originally.
Even the obverse of the eagle shows casting pits IMO. Regardless, this a a very poor quality example and I would not consider it representative of Third Reich quality train eagles.
