    The display of War Flag

Found an interesting picture. Note the three war flags in the picture are displaying on the "reverse side", but not the NSDAP banners. And I did see this happened on some occasions.

Does anyone know any regulations of this? Or they just randomly display the flag on either side?

    Thanks.

    Best,
    Shawn

It certainly seems odd to me that the swastika banner would be purposefully displayed "in reverse," and I can't think of any reason why that would be done. But given that the soldiers pictured here, and the banners on the back wall appearing as they do, this photo appears not to have been flopped, with the reverse negative printed as it is, so it surely looks like this is an accurate depiction of how they intended to have the battle flag shown...odd as it appears to me!

      Hello Shawn:
I've never seen a 3rd Reich flag use regulation,
like that outlined in the extensive U.S. AR 840-10.
Having said that, I attended lots of U.S. military
parades over the years, taking note of the flags
and their use. At one such parade I noted that
the general's flag was on it's trooping pole upside
down, which I pointed out to the color guard. They
rushed it away, and returned with it flipped on the
pole, and after the parade thanked me that they
were able to get that detail fixed before the C.O.
showed up. So even when regulations exist, stuff
      happens.

It would be interesting to know what the ceremony was that is pictured.

I have ran the Stars and Strips up the pole upside down, but that was because some very very attractive ladies were being distracting at the moment. It was the mid 80's and everyone thought I was making a political statement.

When the U.S. flag is hung vertically, the stars are always supposed to be in the upper left. Perhaps they felt the iron cross should always be in the upper left as well.
