flag hangs down & patch on wrong arm! ...do I win?
The flag hangs down due to the heavy bullion wire embroidery such that the center eagle appears sideways, also the flag bearers patch is on the wrong sleave - photo is not printed in reverse as swords are in right hands and scabbards are on the left! You are absolutely right. BUT if you follow the flagnails, then the iron cross, take a look at the fringes AND you will remark that the eagle or better the whole flag IS SIDEWAYS!!!!!!!!
Ain't that amazing??? I've never seen such a Infantry flag before and think this flag was cut wrongly after taken out of the wooden embroidery frame by mistake. I am sure if such a "wrong" Infantery flag would appear at a dealer everyone would think that its a good fake only! Or a bad joke!!!

I do not think the flag is side ways, the flag is folded over so the top of the flag is hanging forward. The eagle would be facing forward in that case, there are period photos of standard bearers with a patch on the left sleeve and I would like to see a photo (or series) that shows the other sleeve also to see if there is a patch on each side, which would be my guess,

It looks like it's correctly attached to the pole but folded over itself diagonally so the top edge is flush to the pole.

Yes you are all right guys! Sorry, it just have completely confused me and it was just unbelieveable that such a flag can exist!! But as I took a closer look now I saw the 2 edges of the iron cross near the flag nails!
But a very nice picture anyway, don't you think??
