Anyone know what this flag is or was used for? I thought I saw the skull patch SOMEWHERE? and it was for life saving? Flag is a stiffer cotton than a party flag with a slight sheen, nothing glows on it. size is 15'' x 21'' plus fringe, has two rope hangers. Thanks

the patch appears vintage IMO, based on
chain stitching, much like a Freikorps patch
without or missing the "W" below the skull.

It looks as a Totenkopfprobe-Schwimmerabzeichen. Could be one, but I am not sure.
There were quite some variations for this patch for a 60 minutes swimming duration test. I know they exist with and without waves. You can find one in my HJ-Handbook on page 83 with waves.
I would not know what it has to do with a flag, so it might be positioned at one time !Last edited by wilhelm Saris; 02-04-2015, 01:26 PM.
