I'm starting to run short of wall space in Mein Bunker.
I've got this podium banner on the wall. I am presuming that it is a podium banner and is for the NSDAP. It measures 42" across and 50" top to bottom, excluding the braided tassels at the bottom. I hesitate to call them gold bullion wire, although they are gold in color. I collect HEER, KRIEGSMARINE, LUFTWAFFE & WAFFEN SS, so in actality, this kinda' falls outside of the parameters, if you get my drift.
It must have originally been a very thick cloth, as they machined, combed, pummeled, raked the heck out of the front side to give it a felt, fuzzy feeling & depth. The back is a smooth material. You will notice in one of the pictures that the tassel on the right end is a little broken/severed. We had a rabbit at one time and he was apparently an enemy of Fascism. All I could say at the time was "BAD BUNNY!" You ever try to beat a rabbit with a belt or smack him/her hard on the nose? You end up with a broken bunny and the kids cry. So, I took it in stride and moved the banner up higher off the floor.
I was curious if anyone knew anything more about this particular style of banner. I was going to list it up on the E-Stand (to make room on my walls as previously mentioned) at a price of $850. I would certainly appreciate any opinions as to whether I am low or high. I just don't know. I think I have only seen one other banner like this in the last 30 years. It may be more rare then I had thought. I just don't know. I also realize that rare doesn't always translate into the word valuable.
