    DE Stander Question

I recently purchased Jeff Clarks "Uniforms of the NSDAP" and I had a question about a particular photo in it for anyone who might own the book and can help me out

Unfortunately my phone and camera are both broken at the moment so I cannot take a picture to show what I'm talking about but will do my best to describe it.

Its on Page 31 and there is a DE standard in the picture, where theres the plaque i guess you could call stating where its attached to or traditionally reads "NSDAP" well in this particular picture it reads "NSDAM" and was wondering why.

If anyone can help it would be nice. Thanks in advance!

The box of the DE Standartes had a city name or region on one side, and "NSDAP" on the other. I believe what you are seeing is the city name "Potsdam" obscured by the political leader.

By the way, the book is the best on the subject, and one of the best collector references period.

Jeff is a moderator here on the forum in the political section. What are your thoughts on the book?

      Hello squidney86:
Pretty strange, that is a new one on me.
Maybe the DE standard in question is a repro?
If not, it sounds like some kind of photo anomaly,
or a super rare production error. I have seen a
WW2 PQMD made US unit flag embroidered title
scroll with a spelling error - a laps in QC inspection.

        Hello TxG:
That would explain it, but also end letters would
have to be in lower case too. I've not seen that
book, or the book DE standard photo in question.

Thank you for the info, OFW.

Sometime tomorrow I will snap a picture of it and post it so that you can see it.

This morning after closer examination of the photo I do believe it says "Potsdam". I just couldn't tell because of positioning.

              Thanks for the info everyone
