Big "Kraft durch freude" flag for review

    Hi

Came accros this flag a few years ago.
Quite heavy and also large although I didn't measure it.
It seem to have been used as paint cloth or to cover something up while painting. The mark where the paint bucket once stood is very visible.

The white circle and also the swastica are sewn ontop of the red cloth. I heard this is a good sign that a flag has several parts stiched together?

It's authenticity I leave to your good judgment.
    Thx

          ja:
Hard to say on this one as it looks IMO home made.
Might be WW2 period made, or something else too.
Noted years ago a $20K bullion Luft truppenfahne with
paint drops all over one side - some postwar vet use.

              Agree--DAF rather than KdF.

DAF. This is the early version of the design, not homemade. I had a period photo image of just such a banner hanging in a factory hall. Unfortunately, I recently lost several of my files. If I can find it again I will post it.

I also own one of these banners with this design version and can vouch for its construction and material appearing to be period.

No luck with the picture (yet) but I just remembered this link to another example of this design version: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=363241

It is the first pattern DAF flag, which was manufactured by various concerns. I have it in a catalogue-leaflet.

In a leaflet from Fahnen-Fleck this is phrased as the "new" flag for the German DAF. In the beginning there was no patch attached, nor did the flag have frings officially. This came with a later date. The flag was officially sewn and not printed! At that moment it was allowed to position metal small shield at the pole. Out-of-heart: This flag came into being in 1933 and was flown more and more during 1934.
In general this pattern is the model-1934 and was flewn extensively at May 1. 1934. It is possible this pattern was a fact about August 1933.

I did write an extensive article in three parts for the German "Militaria"-magazine, published in 2003.
