    Help to Flag Eagles

    Greetings Guys,

I have some question to the Flag experts.
    My Questions:
What for different Eagles were used for Flagpoles ?
Or did they always use the same Golden eagles?
Did they have Eagles with out swastikas ? I mean that the Eagle and Swastika is not in one piece.
It would be great if you guys could help me.

    thx
    fredy

      Hello fredy:
IMO most 3rd Reich flag pole tops were silver in
color, rather than golden. The DE standard did
have a golden eagle, but only the first four from
1923 had screw mounted detachable swastikas.
There were non-RZM custom use eagles with a
swastika hung from the eagle's beak - see below.

      OFW
(below) 1935 German Company Catalog top examples.
Note type D, G, & P, which could have separate swastikas.

(below-2) Type D eagle used as a Glockenspiel top ornament.

        Fredy:
Post #2 eagle is IMO another non-RZM custom

use eagle ornament. Base design same as post
#3b Glockenspiel used eagle ornament, so not
really just seen used only as a flag pole top.

          Hi ofw,

You mean it was an eagle for random flagpole? Not for the 3.Reich...
I have got the eagle with a sa buckle "first model". The owner said it was the eagle to a sa flagpole. This flagpole was hanged in Bavaria "Kronach" from restaurant ...
I do not know if I Should believe the old Guy?
He was About 90 years, very friendly and helpful, so why should he lie?
          Understand what I mean?

What is imo? IMO == "In my Opinion" Regards, Ed.

Thx for the Basic help :-)

            Fredy:
Yes, IMO == "In my Opinion". Which is the basis of
my reply, i.e., my reply could be right or wrong, but
is based on some long term collecting experience.
Regarding your post #2 shown golden (brass) colored
eagle, it was IMO a commercial available & sold item
that could be used for whatever the buyer wanted.
But this eagle was not the NSDAP RZM specified SA
flag pole top design, the SA used the lanzespitzen.

            OFW
(below) #56 & #57 are RZM specified SS & SA flag pole tops,
as shown in my post #3 pole top chart as type "A" on the left.

OK I understand what you are saying to my.
Thx for the Basic training in Flags.
I hop maybe somebody has an idea for what the eagle was used .

              Mit freundlichen Grüßen

From the Old Flags Wanted Chart

It appears to be similar to a type G eagle mounted on a type O wreath with a swastika in the center.
