I did a search of the forum but didn't come up with anything and online solutions are a little harsh; does anyone have any preservation suggestions that would prevent these rings from deteriorating any further? I would like to nip this in the bud without damaging the silk. Thanks in advance.

IMO leave them as they are, now just a part of the
original vintage flag. Restoration or preservation
should be undetectable, less than that reduces the
artifact collector value, i.e., best is unmessed with.

Thanks for the replies; I'm all for originality but this oxidation has occurred in the one year that I've had the standards in my possession. I store them in as climate-controlled an environment as I can manage right now and I'm worried that the silk will start to "rot"(for lack of a better word) if I don't get this under control before too long. Any ideas what might be causing this? As I stated, this was not noticeable when I acquired them 12 -15 months ago.

Looks like maybe caused by a high humidity storage
environment from a plastic bag. If you see any small
black spots on the white area of the flag, you might
want to use desiccant packs to absorb any moisture.
