    "Barn-Find": This time a real one!! KM-pennants!

    Dear all,

These three pennants originate from an old house in Netherlands, where they were found two weeks ago under the floor! This time for real!

One can clearly see that they are a bit salty, but the overall condition is great! I deem the special stiching on the the two small ones very detailed and nice: the third one is a printed version. (I also annexed a more detailed scan of the blue car pennant, so that you see the fine 'kurbelstickerei'. All three come with the original metal hooks attached. My camera is 'out of order' so I decided to make some scans instead.

My questions: What are they specifically? I found in one of my books that the larger square one (size: aproximately 30 X 30 cms.) is for a 'Generaladmiral'. Are they very rare/and does anybody knows something about their value?

Thanks for all your comments & remarks!

    Best regards,

    Coco

Barn-Find: This time a real one!!! KM pennants

Hoi Coco, what a great found, you must be very happy!!!
I allready did some research on this theme, because of the Kriegsmarine Mercedes-Benz Staffcar I restaurated 2 years ago.
The blue vehicle pennant is a national insignia pennant, for the Kriegsmarine members till the ranking of Admiral. The Admiral's pennant has a three sides tress with swastika weave.
The white and black pennant with triangular form is a vehicle pennant for the rank of Admiral.
The square pennant is a vehicle pennant for a Generaladmiral, but the swords must be on the bottom side, other than on your scan. This pennant should be covered with a celluloid protective cover, and reinforced on the outher edges with black colored fabric.
The pennants are rare, I don't know about the prices.

I have a pennant of the Herman Göring HG Panzer Division, also very rare and found in Monte Casino, it has two diferent sides; one with the flying eagle with swastika and the other side the black and purple stripe with H.G. on it.

          Groeten uit Friesland, Hans Rinsma

            Pennants

            Hi Hans,

Thanks for your great information on the flags! Indeed I am happy a hell: that something like this happens after so many years....but it also proves that nothing is impossible! I also followed you comments and turned the picture #3: now it should be okay...

Look forward to hear more comments...and of course would I like to see your HG pennant! That's also a story!

            Thanks again!

            Best regards,

            Coco

              barn-find : KM pennants

              Hi Coco,

I just made the payment to become association member, so I can put some more pictures on the forum, then I'll show some pics of the Herman Göring Panzer Division Pennant.
Your pennant #3 is just how it should be now, all three look great

Infrequently the flags of admirals and generaladmirals were additionally painted onto the front and rear fenders of staff cars, but only when the vehicle was exclusively used by the (general)admiral.

On staff cars, the pennant was to be removed or covered when the authorized officer or official was not actually inside his vehicle. The triangular or square cover was made of field-grey canvas, artificial leather or leather, and usually had a flap which closed around the staff.

              Kind Regards, Hans
