    Help with bronze pole eagle

    HEY GUYS

I just pulled this one out of the wood work, and i have no idea what it's. I looked in my flag books, and can't find anything like it. It's very heavy and big, and well detailed. Maybe it was for a flag that stand in place. Any info would be helpful.

            Hello SV:
Interesting eagle, can't say I've seen one exactly
like it before, so it may be a custom made piece.
Suspect based on the more brief detail on the
back, that it was for an indoor against the wall
display, maybe at a town hall or party HQ, but
that is just a guess. Wings down design also has
Wehrmacht association too, but without a wreath.

                  Another interesting eagle, somewhat different,
but likewise with nice front side detail too.

                    Hey Guys

Thanks for the info. Yes the base does unscrew. Anyone else have any info on this piece.

                      Johns Similar Eagle

                      Hello SV,

John has recently found that the eagle he sold was photographed & described in a period publication as: "Dieser adler bildet die dachbefronung der standarte des fuhrers am Deutschen hof in der stadt der Reichsparteitage von einem SA.Mann geschaffen" which roughly translates to "This eagle forms the roof decoration at the Deutschen hof in the city of the Reich Party Congresses from one SA mans production". I believe that yours had a similar purpose, is almost certainly political and was produced in the early to mid 1930s'. May I also add that I agree with OFW that your eagle is likely a unique custom made piece of which there were very few. Either way, it is certainly a stunning piece and looks great in polished brass in contrast to Johns which was plated bronze, congratulations,

This doesn't really make sense, does it

Can you check your spelling of "dachbefronung", please.

                            Hello der-hase-fee,

My apologies- spelling is dachbegrunung or "roof greening", it is written in old gothic script and hard to read,

Can you post a scan of that, please ? What would the eagle have to do with grass and other plants planted on the roof ? If that was even done then, other than on bunkers.
