Never saw a fake from this maker personally, can you shoot across the top studs and get a better shot of base stud. Is the "V" raised or impressed?. Looks pretty dirty so best err on side of caution but it does look o.k. If the V is raised and the wing span should be about 29 inches I think it looks legit but grungy. I can now see the lower stud and appears o.k

I'm not fond of this one as the V eagle that I had was definitely raised like you see in my photos.

          JR,

Actually they should be raised, I have had the opportunity to grab a couple of these and inspect them from the vet and they were trolley eagles with the raised V. Another example went sold by CG with a raised V and the element symbols. Having never seen a fake and I what I felt were originals I took the impression that the raised V was actually a plus. Its an opinion but I am basing that on what I felt were 100% legitimate examples. For what that is worth. Here is the CGM example and seems to be o.k and lines up. http://www.craiggottlieb.com/engine/...rman+Militaria Of course I am not sure why you are not fond of the other either, but appears to be an alternate cast as well and may also differ in size.

Yes, the one that I show is raised and in the 24" version. I've not had the opportunity to see any other size examples. Maybe some close-ups of the wing studs could help verification.

Pictures of my 28" "V" marked eagle. The "V" is raised on mine.

dwm, please measure your eagle again for me. All indications is that it is a 27" eagle and not a 28" which has significant different characteristics. Thanks, JR

Typo error meant to type 27"

24, 27 & 35" eagles will all conform to a certain degree. The 28 is a whole different bird

Looks correct, and that would mean this maker did 15, 24, 27, and 29 inch birds. The trolley eagles have the raised V alone with no other marks. I cannot say I have seen a bird with one marking in all those sizes. And all of them look correct.

Doubt it, no one measures these exact and will round up or down, exceptions are generally the WAG and LOK pieces which if memory serves me are pretty much in line with the MM measure marks to the rear. 28 inchers advertised depending on maker will run about 28 3/8. The 29 listed and referenced above appears to be 28 1/2 if I got that right. Cant say we have gotten to a point that we need calipers or to weigh these pieces in grams.
