Lettering says:

Verein Vereinigte Hessen von Haspe = an organisation of people from Hessen, but they lived in Haspe.

Haspe is not in Hessen. It is part of the city of Hagen today (in the Ruhrgebiet). I guess, the people of this organization left Hessen and founded the organization to remember the old Heimat!

I think the best chance for a good price is to sell it back to Germany. There should be the most interest in such a civil flag. The value? It is an impressive flag. Perhaps 400-500 Euro in my opinion.

I think that it could bring a bit more. Why don't you put it on estand starting it at 1k and every three days drop the price $50. You will find it's value that way.

You have a great audience here with roughly 1100 to 1300 people on at any given moment.
