    NSDAP Banner Top

Opinions please I was given this banner top, when I was a kid, about 22 years ago, as a birthday present!
    1.Is it NSDAP?
    2.Is it orginal?
3.Does the fact it is painted signify anything?
It is cast in aluminium, I cant see a stamp on, but it could be under the paint.
    Any info would be good.

You have an interesting flag pole top (fahnenspitzen), done in the 2nd
pattern that goes onto the trooping pole for a Third Reich NSDAP Political corner patch flag. As to if it is a period original, I will leave that up to you
to decide, but I will say that replicas usually lack nice eagle feathering, head and feet details, and the an originals straight swastika arms, and many times altogeather the pole adaptor base as this is the hardest part to recast, and as such usually missing is also the reserse side top of the pole adaptor "Otto Gahr - Ges.Gesch", or "RZM" markings. Even on replicas with a pole adaptor base the inside of the pole mounting shaft is usually very rough - i.e., without machine turned finishing, and likewise the pole mounting screw hole shows little or no wear as to having ever been mounted onto an actual pole. It's hard to say for sure from the photo, because these tops don't have tremendous detail, but it looks okay. The paint was applied postwar--originally these were aluminum color. Generally the piece will be RZM marked on the pole sleeve. Most do not have a Gahr or Ges.Gesch marking.
