IMO, based on color, length, eagle & wreath proportions.

dont think this has any chance as a auto flag as it would have to be mounted sideways probablya indoor drape if original

        Hello m2k:
Not saying it was an attempt at an "auto flag",
only that the poorly done eagle is based on the
eagle design from same. Not an original item IMO.

here is a close up of the eagle.
          banner size: 14x20 inches.
he says it is a pre 39 podium banner.
          I don't have a penny in it.
It is currently in transit in the mail to me.
When I get I'll black lite it and take some really good pics.
          the unterlagen looks huge

Some observations: Small eye & "K" center.
No feet - fakes have a hard time doing claws.
Typical wire work seen on modern made items,
and with odd oversize oakleaf proportions.

I can't wait to put this under the UV light when it comes!
A close up on the bullion will also be telling.
No feet on the eagle is a really bad sign.

btw: pardon my misspelling at the top.

                  Additional info + photos

I just got this in the mail today.

Small yellow cotton podium banner 47 x 33 cm, double sided - plain back, 2 cm pole loop, single stitched edge with 4.5 cm bullion fringe, 24 x 15.5 cm high relief bullion eagle with heavy cardboard unterlagen.

The small size, inexpensive fabric for bullion, single stitch edge, no legs for eagle seem to be red flags. The bullion and fabric appear old. Could it have been made outside the rules by a non-approved maker? Based on the construction, do you guys think it is a fake or not?

                  need more info or photos?

Interesting mix of bullion wire types, but still IMO
based on often seen big loose wire applied sections -
outer wings and lower oak leaves, and poor eagle
design features like the large tomahawk blade eagles
                    beak, etc.
But if you like it, that is all that counts.

(below) typical "real" 3rd Reich couched down narrow bullion wire work.

Thank you for pointing out the couching! Another red flag. As far as I am concerned, you are probably the best flag expert around. I've seen your posts for many years.

I had a lot of fear about buying this banner. I was interested in buying it for resale. The owner mailed it to me for a 2 day examination.

As you can see from my first post I was skeptical. After I opened the pkg and asked a few questions I was emailed a COA. I was not persuaded. I think your doubts based on experience are reason enough to return it.

I'm sure he could get his money back if it's bad.

I'm surprised nobody asked about the results of the UV test !!
                        answer: the unterlagen shined.
                        I returned it next day.
