Blood Stained and Battered!?!

Could I please get an opinion on where you might typically find this type of constructed flag? It's printed on what used to be, white or biege cloth I guess. This particular piece came from a vet with two huge 3 piece party banners of the type you see hanging from large buildings. However this one, at least, appears to be blood soaked and battered. Thanks.

Doesn't look like blood on it but its a Harbor Pilot Flag. I used to have one constructed out of wool.

Blood stains are somewhat unique in appearance, as the plasma separates out and makes a second stain around the red one. You will occasionally see some pretty big blood stains on Japanese flags.
