Stamps on head of Railroad Eagle

This is the first RR eagle I've had in hand. I noticed that there are a couple of stamps on the edge of the eagle's head. Is this normal? Is the eagle original?

Just a learning question here. I noticed that the bolts are not threaded. Does this mean it was not finished ? Best regards.

yes that is correct,,,the cones have not been machined and threaded yet I seems alot of this makers birds are out there in an unfinished state
I would like to see another maker with unfinished cones,,
maybe this bird was picked up in the factory as booty

I agree with Niblet that this was probably liberated at Factory/Foundry and never was finished by cutting/tapping the threads

I agree - probably factory booty.

Those from the trains were always threaded and sometimes damage can be observed at the edges due to some vet's attempt to prise it off the loco.
For the threaded pieces, those with the original nuts / bolts are less seen.

Excellent! Thanks for the replies. Any idea what the stamps may have indicated? Inspector marks perhaps?

Yes, probably inspection or quality control markings i believe.
Some had RENO stamped on the edge.
