    DE list update...

DE4. SA Salzkammergut, *OFW, WAF t=705220, ~$300K USD
    ..... OFW .....
    ..........
    (My 1st WAF Avatar)
I estimate that maybe two dozen DE's (~3%) have
survived WW2, from the ~716 made. Of the across
mount pole versions there were 449 SA and 108 SS.
One of the rarest DE's survives in Russia, the SS-LAH.

    716 DE presentations from t=252401
    (count includes also other than
    just across pole mounted types)
    1923 4 SA *
    1926 8 SA *
    1927 12 SA *
    1929 24 SA *
    1931 24 SA *
    1933 118 SA 8 SS *
    1934 126 SA 75 SS *
    1935 36 SS 40 SS 28 NSKK *
    1936 25 SA 3 SS 35 NSKK *
    1937 30 SA 1 SS 34 NSKK 1 Polizei *
    1938 42 SS 14 SS 21 NSKK 16 NSFK *
    1942 1 SA (Fritz Todt, reused Munich-II cloth - OFW type 1)
    Totals are 449 SA, 141 SS, 118 NSKK, 1 Polizei, 16 NSFK.

        Hello Lughi-76:
If you are asking about an Imperial German
War Flag (IKF), it is IMO a 3rd Reich era made
example (i.e., 1933-1945) based on design,
material, construction, and Eagle "M" marking.

        OFW

          My Flag

Thank you, so it might be true at the time?
Excuse my lack of Acquaintances in the field but what exactly does IMO and OFW?
Who sold me the flag is said that a Reichskriegsflagge Kaiserliche Marine U-Boot? And 'possible?
I cut a wire sticking out of the seams is I burned!
SEEMED TO PLASTIC burned quickly without leaving ashes.
Then from a tear of the flag I made another thread is I've burnt!
SEEMED TO PLASTIC burned quickly without leaving ashes.
Apart from that I am not convinced the manufacturer's plate.
What neither think? WESTDEUTSCHE could be after 1945?

            Hello again:
[1] The IKF was likely made circa 1939, based
on the KM eagle with swastika over "M" stamp.
Flag has typical 3rd Reich era construction, and
was made for use on battle day commemorations.
[3] The flag is NOT a WW1 era German U-Boat flag.
[4] Post WW2 synthetic would burn to hard black ball.
[5] BONN maker tag is IMO pre-1945, and does NOT
mean the flag was made in after WW2 West Germany.

              My Flag

Thanks again, the explanation is better than an 'encyclopedia!
While not holding the flag is 100% safe on his originality?
The manufacturer's plate is referred to as factory?
In addition there is the measure on the flag 80 135 why the other of the Third Reich have Es. 80x135?

Railroad track on header and stitching would seem to indicate TR era manufacture but I have never seen one (TR manufacture that is) that looks so bad!! The eagle is just horrible! It's just not even close, even for a TR flag. I would suggest that perhaps it is indeed a post World War 2 copy.

Wouldn't mind having a better look at the naval acceptance stamp.

Yes, IMO the IKF was pre-1945 made.
Yes, BONN label was the flag factory.
Yes, 80-135 size marking is OK IMO.

                    Kurt (Curt) Brautigam RKF flags

I believe this is a maker marked Kurt Brautigan flag; however, I'm a bit confused. Are these RKF flags considered period/original?

                          Hello Nische:
RKF shown, and recently sold on WAF e-stand, is IMO
a WW2 made flag, based on material and construction,
and as well on authentic period markings too. ie., maker
in question did make flags during WW2. However, that
maker marking has also been used on fake flags too,
thus there are both "real" and "fake" example listings...

30b. Kurt Bräutigam Plauen I. Vogtl., t=442400, real RKF.
Fk2. Kurt Brautigam Plauen I. Vogtl., on fake SS, RKF, & HJ.

The $360 e-stand price was a good deal too.
My first flag from back in 1970 was also a RKF.

Sorry OFW....I'm not convinced. I have never seen stitching like that on a TR flag, the cross stitching around the header ends just don't look right to me, and (again) the eagle is so far off that I can't imagine any manufacturer making these flags during the TR period be so off.

Besides, the flag has a naval stamp, right? These flags were only used for parades and on German vessels on the anniversary of the Battle of Skagerrak....so why would it have a acceptance stamp from the military? Those were only given for "official" military use.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. It's a poor post-war era fake.
