about vehicle ID flags ???
Hello baldy1939:
If your vehicle ID flag was made after the Goebbels "total war"
declaration, when lower production quality was more acceptable,
this could explain why less than specified full width material was
used - the flag being pieced togeather to utilize fabric remnants.
Keep in mind vehicle ID flags were merely tactical tools - their main
function being to remotely communicate position to avoid friendly
fire. So whatever construction method accomplished this overall
use function goal, was likely OK in the later war period.
-------------------------( background )-------------------------------
The 18 February 1943 speech by Joseph Goebbels is his most famous.
It followed the end of Stalingrad, and was focused on making the true
seriousness of the war evident to everyone, especially to Hitler and his
armaments minister Albert Speer. Germany on a total war footing ended
nonessential production of consumer goods, and such.
