    Herman Goring Regiment Flag delusion

<CENTER>Most folks when they see a Prussian Eagle center
green Landpolice battalion flag think that it is the Goring
Regiment flag, not so. The actual Goring Regiment flag has
never been found, at least to my knowledge, and would be
identifiable by a small embroidered "Southern Cross" shield
directly below the center wreath ribbon. All the 50 plus others,
without the shield, are defunct or former Landpolice unit flags.
This then is the Herman Goring Regiment flag delusion.

      OFW,

I keep looking at mine hoping the southern cross will appear on it.
No telling how much that sucker would be worth.

Prussian eagle flag with southern cross shield
still has not shown up. This would be the flag
of the 1st Battalion Luft Regiment Gen. Goring
(RGG). And that shield makes it the only flag
that could be confirmed as being from the RGG.

The engraved pole ring would also ID the
flag as I/RGG. Has anyone seen that ring?

                  Per chart in post #5, II/RGG & III/RGG flags
used Luft eagle tops. I/RGG used a very rare
Land Police star in tear drop flag pole top.

Rumors of the 1RGG flag ???

A local collecting story from yeras ago is
                    that the
1RGG flag was seen in a junk shop
in San Francisco. I don't discount this story
since I found my super rare Fascist Italian
Standard (below center) in just such a SF
Calif junk shop in the 1970's for only $100.

Great to see this material. The top is being shown in my German gorget-book.
For those interested two pages from this book.

The lower drawing from the General Göring flag is from a colored plate from the German airforce (Farbtafel der Luftwaffe) from 1942.
Note the drawing mentions the 2nd and 3rd batallion did not use a coat-of arms.
The section about Landespolizei and Regiment "General Göring" has six pages and shows the use of flags. The Southern Cross was
                        granted May 29, 1934.
