KM Prinz Eugen original ships flag

This coming weekend I will have access the the last, original, flag to fly upon the German ship "Prinz Eugen". It is fully documented with notorized affidavits from the last Captain of this ship who wound up living in Palm Beach, Florida, USA, until his death at a very old age. He gave the flag to a local Doctor who had been a very long time friend.

What is an approximate value of such a flag???

I assume you are talking about an RKF? A typical RKF can retail for around $500-USD, if not too large and in good condition (i.e., no holes or stains, and KM eagle marked). Verified documentation can provide a multiple to the value of the flag, but names and dates need to match other reference sources different from the "notarized affidavits" - see PBS "History Detective" TV authentication examples.

Chuck , it would be great if your friend would permit you to take a few photos to post on our site.

My late father was on one of the Ramsgate based MTB's which were sent out to attack the Brest Squadron when they forced the Channel in Feb. 1942.

I for one would love to see the flag and see details of its various marklings etc.

To buy this kind of items is always a question of faith. There is no way to probe 100% the true of the story and to test that the flag was the original from this cruiser.
Anycase, if original, this would be a treasure.
