HJ Bannfahne

My apologies to anyone who rushed in expecting to see pictures of one that I've managed to pick up.

Does anyone have one of these or a DJ Jungbannfahne in a private collection? I'm guessing not as I can't imagine that more than a handful survived the war but I thought I'd ask anyway. It would be really interesting to see any that made it past 1945.

Hello Xen
I´m not so lucky to have one of this in my collection. I only have a nice JM unit pennant.
Regards from Spain.

Hello XEN:
In my nearly 40 years of collecting flags I've only seen six
flying eagle type HJ/DJ Bannfahnen - 3 HJ and 3 DJ, all of
them being of RZM spec embroidery. Four of the flags are
NSDAP Ausland Organizations, likely captured at the OA-HQ
in Stutgart at the end of WW2. See my Bender Military
Advisor magazine (Winter 1994/95 Vol-6, #1 issue) article
for more about these rare flags, including some nice close
up photos of the Guatemala DJ Bannfahnen in my collection.
(which is like as shown in the graphic provided below).

Thanks very much for your replies guys. Interesting info OFW and congratulations on that Bannfahne!

It speaks volumes for the HJ that it seems to have been very thorough in preventing its honour flags from falling into the enemy's hands despite the central role those flags played in the boys' lives. It can't have been easy for those who held the flag for the last time before throwing it onto the flames... Let's hope that there are still a couple waiting to be discovered somewhere.

Have you uploaded pictures of your JM pennant Gregorio? Would love to see it.

I was talking no many years before with an old man, who served in the Streifendienst in the HJ in Sudetenland. He was in the Waffen SS Division Frundsberg but by a fate******180;s joke he was in his home the day when the war end, in a small town called Teplitz. He told me how he and his comrades in the local home of HJ burnt and destroyed a lot of documents, flags and things like that in the seventh or eighth of may 1945. After they did it, they returned to their homes and there this man burnt his uniforms and papers too. The metalic things, as badges, was buried in his garden. The russian came to this town next day.
The boy was sleeping with a gun under his pillow until he and his mother scaped to the brithish zone a few days later, thanks to their money and jewels.
As Xen said, it must be very hard for you to do something like this, but...
Asap I take some pics of my JM pennat to be posted here.
Regards from Spain

Hello Gregorio in Spain:
Interesting story, which seems to explain why so few
HJ/DJ Bannfahnen exist today. Likewise, just as difficult
as finding the actual flags, is locating close-up parade photos
of many circa WW2 fascist movement flags, such as even
those from Spain (see below).

At least one year ago I was looking pictures of this pole for you, but as I told you in those moment, I can´t find anything, though I have a lot of books and pictures about the spanish fascist movement and his simbols.

HJ Bannfahne - a recent woodwork find ! !

I realize that this thread is almost 5 years old, but my contribution is perfectly relevant, so I feel that it is appropriate to "revive" it today.

Here is a picture of a very rare original HJ Bannfahne that my friend Mark T. and I recently pulled out of the woodwork from a private (non-dealer/non-collector) source here in Virginia.

It will be gracing our selling table at next week's S.O.S. - don't miss the opportunity to stop by and to view this rare-as-hen's-teeth example!

There was one HJ at the SOS but I don't recall the Bann number. Last year there was a DJ version.

Last time I passed by the table there was a photo of it displayed but the flag itself, and the vendor, were gone. At least at that point, i believe it was still available.
