    <center>Hello Mike:
In general your flag will out last you unless eaten up by bugs,
mold, or acid from storage in a card board box. If it is made of
wool bunting then moth balls are needed, if it is silk then folds
are to be avoided, storage in a damp place will cause mold
stains - other than these concerns little else is really necessary.

I used a cardboard shipping tube (leftover from a metal supplier order) and unbleached muslin cut oversize to cover my 5x7 flag. Fabric stores carry muslin and is cheap, make sure you get "unbleached". Leave about two feet of muslin material at each of the two short ends. The flag is placed centered on the muslin. Starting from the "fly" edge of the flag, roll the muslin around the cardboard tube first to keep the cardboard tube from touching the flag. Continue rolling the tube being careful to not let the flag bunch up. Keep the lanyard clips out and finish rolling. Not very compact this way but it is much better than storing it folded in the acidic environment of a cardboard box.
