Opinions on flag top please

Hi,
I just picked up this flag top and would like opinions on this for authenticity and if I paid a fair price for it. I paid $90 and the original price the dealer wanted was $135. The scans don't show it but there are two holes on each side of the base for attaching to the flag pole.
Also any info I can get would be appreciated. Is this an army top? Or is it just a Nazi party top? or??
Thanks for looking and all the help,
Wayne

Hello Wayne:
For a number of reasons, in my opinion, the posted German
Army unit flag pole top (fahnenspitzen) is a replica - it has poor
breast feathering details, I can't see a hole above the right
claw, pitted pole adaptor base and thin bottom section, etc.
As for price Kelly's sells their replicas for $15 each, with an
original being worth several thousand dollars. Send me a direct email
if you would like more information.

Hello:
That is because the replicas can be had by the truck load
for as little as $15 each, and original German Army pole tops
run in the thousands! The difference is quite easy to tell -
the originals have superb casting details, and the c.WW2
Heer tops were made by just one Berlin maker and are
well marked on the bottom as such.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info on this and I consider this a little hard lesson learned.
I am a newbie at a lot of the WWII German stuff and there was no way I was able to do any research on this before I bought it. I need to keep in mind in general that anything at all 'authentic' will usually cost some major dollars. If something appears a great bargain, in most cases it is probably better to pass it up.... unless I know absolutely for sure it is for real.
Those are some beautiful flag tops you have in your picture!! Those are so cool.
Thanks again for the help. It is very much appreciated.

Sort of Related .... WWI Finial

I have one of the WWI versions, gilded bronze (?) with the 1914 EK in the center; it ends in a 3" bolt. I'm missing the matching ferrule through which the bolt passes; I suppose it protects the tip of the pole as well as securing the finial.

Are these ferrules hard to find; and, how much would one cost? I'm not adverse to picking up a copy until I can find an original.

Thanks,

Hello Guy:
Sounds like what you have is a German veterans pole top, like #62
shown in my pole top collection display photo provided below. These
were used mainly after WW1, and are still made today - just go to
google.com and type in the key word ---> fahnenspitzen <--- and
you will find lots of vendors of same from which maybe you can buy
a pole top base section from? My #80, as previous shown, is an
Imperial German period made top used on German Army unit flags -
the base section does not unscrew on these or on the 3rd Reich
Army unit flag tops (#81).

YES!! That's it -- exactly! Thank you very much for further identifying it; and, thank you for the fahenspitzen hint. I've searched ebay.de for fahnenspitze before, but never thought to expand my search.

Thank you,
