          Here's an opinion for you.

At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

Nothing like continously suckling on the teat of free advice and information is there?

Some of us would feel better if you at least came up with the basic membership dues and became a formal member. Surely, the information you seek and continue to receive is worth the lowly sum of 25USD. By joining you would gain a bit more respect.

Up to now, you have brought very little to the table.

I think you're being a little harsh, but I have no idea how hard you guys have worked on learning this stuff.

                    Hello Der Totenkopf,

You want harsh? How about a 15 year old with a signature of Deutschland ******252;ber Alles?

I'm sure the words sound cool, but it comes across as sounding shrill and silly; something akin to a 12 year old Donny Osmond singing "I've Got to be me" with all the narrow conviction he could muster at that age.

You made something of a good guess about it, though.

Many of us have collected for years, have studied our chosen interest carefully and, oftenimes, at great expense. We generally love to help the new folks who come and profess an interest in what we enjoy. The problems appear, however, when a person, post after post after post, only poses questions and never brings anything of their own observations based upon their own study to the Site. As was pointed out to the OP, something of a slight committment, such as becoming a dues paying member of this site being seen as a tangible sign of one's desire to contribute to the maintenance of this site, would be appreciated.

No one is more aware of how any hobby is entirely dependent upon the new generation picking up the 'bug' to continue the progress of the hobby into the future. That's how things progress. The old will naturally be replaced by the young. That's aging.

With all sincerity, I welcome you to this Forum. We need the young to pick up the guantlet and carry on the healthy growth of our shared interest.

                    Ramon
