    a flagpole-top - what about it?

I have this thingy here that I never saw before. Can anyone tell me what this is? And is it a fake or not?

Hi Decker, sorry it is a fake. Note how poorly it is cast and the suspect SS and RZM markings.

    Cheers, Ade.

Exactly! It's a casting of a first type Political eagle poletop with silly markings added. As if it wasn't bad enough without the markings.....

          Original,but alas it's sold.

          Good Morning Decker,

You can peruse, albeit, this baby is gone, at one of Canada's premier militaria sites. This is not a "plug", but in terms of authenticity issues, the dealer in question has a scintilating reputation for quality, original period artifacts.
I think this is the original flag pole top you wish to see. The faker's will have an impossible time reproducing this vintage peice.....

No, actually the linked image is a 2nd type political poletop. The first style is very similar to the SS marked copy that opened this thread, but the quality is much higher and they aren't marked in this way.

Here's a proported first pattern Political Eagle Poletop.....I may have just picked up an original one but cannot find pertinant information on how these were constructed.....Mine appears to be an aluminum base metal with a nickel or chromed coating (?).....Or maybe simply just highly buffed aluminum.....Not quite sure.... I can see areas on it where the base metal has oxidized through.....No markings whatsoever as I believe these were pre-RZM made.....Has a nice weight to it and appears the swastika was once black.....Any further information would be greatly appreciated......Bodes

Merdock, Thanks for the pictures.....Mine is not quite so nicely detailed....So I guess mine is quite possibly one made since the war but has naturally aged through time......Not to worry.....I have very little invested and could very easily get my $$$ back out of it....Bodes
