                  Can you tell if the gold finish is original, or if it has been painted? True gold Nurnberg eagles are quite rare! I've only got one, but had many bronze and several silver finish over the years.

                      I believe the plaque reveals this was a LW Flak searchlight unit that began using that designation in 1941/1942. It was stationed in Rendsburg/Luftgau XI.

                          Here is one that I have ( the bottom one ) it had been painted gold at some point in time as remnants of the paint can be seen in the grooves, there is some of the original silver wash still on it in many areas.
