Austrian Army Museum in Vienna

I visited the Austrian Army Museum in Vienna when we were there in 2018, and it is an absolute must if you ever are in Vienna for a visit.

The museum is situated in the appropriately named suburb of Arsenal.

It was a rather cold day in April when we were there, but inside the museum it was quite comfortable.

I did post photos of the Heer Infantry standard before on the WAF, and can't remember what the inscription was on the ring now, but it was complete.

Their displays go back to pre-WW1 and through to WW2 and beyond. They don't censor the swastika in the museum either.

Anyway, some photos of some of their exhibits, hope they are of interest...

My wife and I visited the museum in 2002 while I was there TDY. It is definitely worth going out of your way to see. We had to take our two sons, aged one and three at the time, with us. The staff looked at us like we were crazy to bring children, and a guard followed us closely the whole time we were there. It was rather comical and a reminder to us that in some European countries it is not standard practice for parents to take their children to certain public venues.
