Fragment of flag?

Hello

Got some items the other day that were wrapped in a large piece of red cloth that looked as though it might have been torn from a wall banner. No symbols on it so shoved it in the bottom of a box to pad some daggers. But I have just noticed these marks on it - I'm assuming that they are totally spurious.

It is approx 125 cms across what I would have assumed was the original width.
