    Naval Eagle

I came across this on Bill's site. I thought I would post it, for documentation purposes, as you don't see these every day. This is what a real one looks like....Tremendous detail.

I was informed that a re-made swastika has been added to complete the display.

VERY impressive! I wonder whether there is any sculptor or casting information on this piece? There couldn't have been many of these produced for ships...and I assume that this would have been made for a warship, not for commercial shipping...and I would imagine that each version of this eagle would have been created to match the dimensions of the particular ship that was to carry it.

Talk about a centerpiece for a display, a collection room or a man-cave!! WOW!

I'am guessing the free shipping went out the door after reading this. Cliff

I honestly think its a must for this example. Hopefully it was made from the proper materials.

I think your right James. Not many made and for only warships. Bill states - " It is marked in two places on the reverse 44 M but we can only speculate what that means. There is solid information about this style eagle in the book entitled Third Reich Reichsbahn Eagles by Wilhelm P. B. R. Saris in pages 31-34."

It's huge measuring 53" x 34" weighing in at 40 lbs. That's probably going to a pretty penny to ship not only because of the weight, but to insure it at the price of 35k.

Interesting that the wings seem straight? I thought the wings would be swept backwards further?

FILE- In this Feb. 10, 2006 file photo, workers salvage the eagle from the World War II German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Controversy has swirled around the eagle ever since it was recovered and now a battle has broken out over its fate. Suggestions have ranged from exhibiting or auctioning the Third Reich symbol, to keeping it hidden or even destroying it. (AP Photo/Marcelo Hernandez, File)

I see that the wings are definitely pitched back, although not as much as the one from the Graf Spee.

Here's the one illustrated in Wilhelm Saris's Reichsbahn Eagles book. Multiple sizes were made.

Doubt it will be destroyed.....Has too much historical importance and value.....Will likely disappear through some back door deal....Bodes
