Hello folks. An estate find from a while back...no history with it, but most certainly of German (pre-WWII I'd presume), origin. Has abbreviated "Gesetzlich Geschuetzt" markings on the rear of the base along w/ a symbol of some sort. It's non-magnetic, so I'm going to assume the base metal is most likely brass w/ a nickel plating. Central design of spread-winged eagle, flanked by what appear to be the Fraktur letters "N D V"..I'm of the opinion that the "D" = Deutsche and "V" Verein / Verband / Verwaltung, etc, but am at a bit of a loss otherwise as to what possible organization this could've represented. Its' not especially large, measuring just 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Any help id'ing this guy would be appreciated. A few snaps to follow...

auto fender flag pole top. See the following info link.

I cannot find any club with these letter abbrevation.
About the 1930's existed:
Nationaler Deutscher Automobilklub;
Nationaler Deutscher Berufsfahrer-Verband;
Allgemeiner Deutscher Autombil-Club;
Automobilklub von Deutschland;
Deutscher Touring-Club

Thanks for the feedback gents. It does make sense that it could well be related to the DNV...an interesting and most likely little known political organization. I’m personally of a mind that it most likely isn’t related to an automobile club, but will continue to research further. Many thanks again for the responses!

It's actually "AvD" for Automobilclub von Deutschland founded in 1899. The logo, aside from the font, is practically the same today.Last edited by paulj; 03-15-2020, 03:10 PM.

The AvD headquarters (Genealdirektion) were at Berlin, Leipziger Platz and had about 50,000 members in about 1930. The club-colors were black-and white/red
(information from the "Stahlhelm-Kraftfahr-Handbuch" from 1930). The Avd possibly was a member from the "Reichsarbeitsgemeinschaft der Fahrzeugbesitzer-
Verbände Deutschlands", but did not belong to the "Ring der Nationalen Kraftfahr- und Luftfahrtbewegung"Last edited by wilhelm Saris; 03-17-2020, 04:36 AM.
