Broken Butt stock, what country? Japan?

I really don't know what country this is from, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It looks to be from a Japanese type 30 or 38 Arisaka.

Thanks for the help and opinion Bern. My confusion was partly because I own a Arisaka but my rifle doesn't have any markings in the wood and the butt plate is different.

What model of Arisaka do you own?
I was going to say the broken butt was from a training rifle, but I guess the other guys beat me to it. : )

Yes, I also posted it in the Imperial section. They believe it is a school training rifle. Everything like this was probably destroyed and a GI on occupation duty probably brought it home.

My Arisaka was one of those common, ground down flower, rifles. Thanks again.
