    Luger/holster/two clips price request

    Hello folks,

I just received a call from a local veteran about a German WWII Luger. Luger comes with holster, 2 clips and all serial numbers match - According to the vet, I have not seen the rig first hand. I dont have any additional info. about the gun/holster/etc.

The vet is interested in selling the gun.

What is the market value for this rig, assuming that it is your average, run of the mill set up in nice condition? A ball park estimate is fine.

I would like to know what to offer the gent should I decide to purchase this one.

    Thanks for the help.

    ?

    Calvin,
Thats tough, but the fact that it is all matching is great! The factors to keep in mind are: is it reblued, year of production, manufacturer, are the mag's matching, holster etc. Lugers are a world unto themselves.
Now from the sound of it if its a "normal" WWII issue luger you could be looking at anything from $750.00 to $1500.00
If I where you I would get on over there!
    Robert
PS: if you know of anyone looking to trade German sniper rifles for Lugers let me know. I have a few choice ones, imperial.

I agree with Robert on this one. The rig could be worth anywhere between $700-$2,000! Depending on condition of gun, mags, and holster, and makers and years of each. Need more info. Please see my earlier post on gun estimates!

            Frank, Matt and Robert,

            Thanks for the info.

My thoughts were in line with the figures you provided. From what he said on the phone, he wants about $650 for the rig. I figured that would be a pretty good price.

The vet said that he acquired the pistol in Germany during the war. The vet stated that he traded two Austrian pistols for the luger with a front line infantryman.

If I can work out a deal with the vet, I will be giving the rig to my father as a Christmas present. He doesn't collect, but he loves my collection. He has always wanted a Luger.

Wish me luck. I'll provide some photos if everything works out.

                  My 2 cents worth...

Well, you could have something there...as the fellows above stated, the price range is about right, BUT...if it were the right one, such as a Krieghoff or a Navy marked Luger, it could be worth many thousands with 2 matched mags... Skip
