G43 AC44 For Review

Hi all,

I have been offered this G43, and having only owned bolt guns in the past could use a bit of help since these can be minefields. From the images provided the stock and butt-plate are most definitely repros/incorrect. Serial number is i-block walther production dating from September 1944. Fortunately the receiver and the bolt carrier match, although I am unsure about the smaller parts, since the seller claims he is unfamiliar with the disassembly process and does not want to damage the rifle. I should mention that it is fitted with a shooters kit and has the original gas system. I plan on using this as an occasional shooter, so I am not seeking perfection here. He is asking $2,200, do you think this is a fair price?

Tough with those small pictures. But if your thoughts are correct I’d think so for a shooter. Considering how much an unmolested matching one would fetch. Price isn’t a steal.

From these pics, the stock is a reproduction and the buttplate is not for a G/K43. Given that, I would hold out for one with less issues and a better price.

Thanks for the help y'all. The images were enlarged on my end so sorry about that. Not sure why they don't show up full-size. I may counter with a lower offer but instinct tells me to probably hold off and wait for a better opportunity.

Might be close to being in the ballpark, even with sportered stocks G43's bring a lot, you can buy repro G43 buttplates that would be "correct" for around 40$, current one is off a South American Mauser... Original magazines are commanding good money as well...how many does it come with? Chris..
