    P38 identification

I purchased this P38 and looking to see if anyone has any info on the stamping.

Everything matches except the slide but its only off a couple 100 serial numbers. Also the P38 looks like it was double stamped. When I looked up the serial number they both came up Oct 1942. The mag has Walther eagle 359.

I also got 2 C96 pistols on the deal that I will be looking for info on once i get photos.

    Thanks

Spreewerk made P-38. E/88 stamps on slide are correct. The asterisk is a rejection mark.

As you already know it's a mismatch and the E/359 stamp on the magazine belongs in a Walther produced P38.

Seems to shoot fine so would they reject for the bad stamping? Just seemed odd to get a miss match with such close serial numbers.

        P38

The slide was definitely rejected for some reason ,worked on then re inspected. The slides serial # is different from the rest of the numbered parts. The pistol is mismatched, and is an early Spreewerke.
