    US Pistol lanyard

Got this on a real nice condition 1892 colt US DA 38 revolver. Is this the right lanyard for that? and for what else? what else would it work on?

Not in my lane so I probably should not comment, please keep that in mind

The cord looks British to me. Similar or maybe identical to old Webley lanyards I had decades ago. No real idea of vintage but I would say WW1-WW2. The leather strap looks pretty much brand new and even if 100 years old was not used with that particular lanyard or really anything else to be in that shape.

This could be prefect 1890s era US lanyard set up but if so I just learned something new due the this thread

It is a British / Commonwealth lanyard. For use on a Webley, Enfield or Smith and Wesson revolver. Also for an Inglis Hi Power pistol. The leather attachment I would say was added after to the original lanyard. It does look too new. F.Y.I. Mike.
