    Fake or real KAR98?

Hello, could anyone help me identify if this kar is an original or fake?

    Thanks!

It is an original Kar 98k. Seems Norwegian modified and reissued. Those were first changed to 30.06 and later to 7,62 x 51 NATO, if not mistaken.

Okay thank you, how much do you think it is worth roughly?

I don't know what the market price might be but for me, as a collector, nothing. It has been transformed and modified too much. If you are a hunter it might be worth something.

me6 has described its collector appeal but to a beginner on a limited budget, it should be marketable. These were first imported to the US in the late 80s and sold well. As I recall, all were in .30-06 and some actually had their original matching numbers in addition to those assigned by Norway. I recently paid $500 for a completely matching pre-war stock and hardware that came from one of these to complete a sporter rescue of a barreled action by the same year and manufacturer and was happy to get it. In the US, your rifle would have more marketability that a Mitchell or Russian capture and would sell in the $650-$750 range.
