    Walter P38 For Review

I have a 1944 Walter p38 Vet capture for review. There is a letter listed from the veteran who captured this pistol during WW2. I do see that the marking under the barrel is a mismatch. In this condition do you guys think it's still worth the pickup? I'm not sure if the holster is authentic. Thank you everyone for your help.

Depends on what the price is really.... from the pics everything looks good, the mis matched barrel is odd but not a major problem. How much are they asking?

They are looking for $700. Is the mismatched barrel a WW2 period item? Thanks for your help.

If the marking under the barrel is the serial number, it is a problem unless you are getting it for shooter price. Don't pay collector price for a mis-match.

Honestly $700 seems reasonable IMO for pistol, holster, and 2 mags. I say go for it but by all means hear other opinions, at the end of the day it’s your money.

            Hope that helps

Does the X denote a Russian capture?

The x is the letter block of its production series, not RC. $700 seems a fair price for what's shown.

You also need to check the serial number on the locking block to see if it matches the frame & slide or the barrel or it could be a third number all together.
The magazine on the right may also be post-war so that needs to be checked also.
$700 seems fair but not a good price, $600 would be better.

Mismatched and post war holster and possible aftermarket mag, $700 would be too much for me.

It also happens to be a very common year/code combination. Personally, I dont buy anything without seeing pics of internals too.

I'd offer $500. It could be a nice shooter.

Do you have pics of the markings on the magazines?
