    P38 for evaluation ?

After a long hiatus from the Firearms Forum have an option to pick up this P38.
Have looked at a few threads on the P38. Understand it's a GI souvenir late war or "very" late war pistol.

Can we learn anything from these two photos ?
Approx value ? Seller wants $600us which seems reasonable ?

    Thanks

Spreewerk (cyq), manufactured in December 1944. Need to find out if the barrel and locking block, the other two parts serial numbered, match. The price is good. The little "star" to the right of the Waffenamt eagle/88 is a rejection mark, meaning the frame had been rejected once but used for this gun (not a problem).

That's a great price for a cog hammer in that condition, especially if everything matches and the bore condition is consistent with the rest of the pistol.

Agree 100%. That would be a bargain in my book. Very nice looking P-38.

Even if the barrel section doesn't match you are getting a good deal, if it matches a screaming good deal.

              Thanks !

Thank You All for your information and encouragement. After opening this thread, went to the P38 Forum which is an excellent site. From the serial number and X, thought maybe it was a Spreewerk cyq, manufactured in December 1944 as Jeff mentions. But was also cautious of rebuilds etc. Will check on the bore, barrel and locking block serial numbers also.

Appreciate your help with this P38 and will take your words under advisement

                Cyq p 38

Agree - great deal for a very nice pistol - if you don't want it I 'll buy it.
