Nice WWII production ammo in original box. The label was added for postwar civilian sales. The added labels to original packaging were common in the late 1950s and at least throughout the 60s.

I strongly suspect that what you see is Interarms (i.e. Sam Cummings') repackaging of surplus WWII ammo for domestic sale in the U.S. From what I have learned of Interarms' history, it routinely engaged in such ammunition repackaging on a large scale in the course of marketing surplus ammo on the U.S. market. I also suspect that the new label was printed (and, perhaps, affixed to the box) overseas, because in the U.S. the caliber marking would be "7.92" using a decimal point rather than the European style of "7,92" using a comma.

Nice box and very interesting item you have found!

Also, the "Made in Germany" country of origin marking on the new label is clearly intended to bring the imported goods into compliance with U.S. import laws and regulations.

I have two in my Kurz collection.
Would be scarce outside the US, less so in the US.
Will photograph later and edit into this post.

Here's a picture of one of the boxes like yours & a couple with Greek writing on them. It also looks like there is an Italian label underneath.
