If it is an MG tripod, the cradle or pintle to hold the MG is missing. The very small and simple tab at the top with the hole in it for a cradle or pintle does not appear to be practical or designed for that purpose.
Very curious and interesting tripod. Hope someone can identify what it is for. Comfortable looking seat. Cumbersome to handle.
I have experience with many kinds of MG tripods and never seen anything lie this, but early experimental MG had some very odd mount creations. This one is numbered 117 which suggests production to me, not prototype.
Sure is an odd assortment of multiples of strange kinds of equipment and devices!!

Bits of blue paint that look original, bottom left pic shows an arm with some decent springs on it............I am wondering if it is actually some form of clay trap thrower.

We had one with a saddle like that in the mob. You sat behind a cover wall and waited for someone to scream "pull" and fired a couple out.

Any chance of some better pics.

      Regards

For some reason it looks like an industrial item rather then a military one to me.
