    1943 CYQ P38. Thoughts?

Found this 1943 Spreewerk CYQ P38 with holster and mag and was wondering what you guys thought of it. Seller says its all matching and no import marks. Skeptical about the retaining strap on the holster as it looks to have been replaced at some point cause the leather looks pretty fresh, what are your guys thoughts? Seller is asking $1000.

Holster is by Hans Dinkelmeyer, "gyo" 1942 dated. Not a common maker to find.

The front strap does look kind of newish but for 1k I'd buy it.

I agree. Looking at it closer, it appears as though the closure strap may be a replacement. Pics of the inside will help.

Gun is well worn, but appears to be all matched (can't see the locking block though).

A cyq in my area with similar hardshell holster is selling usually in the $800 range. I guess we need to start getting use to higher prices. It does seem that all I see for sale lately are cyq guns.

Seller sent me more photos. Isn't the locking block only supposed to have the last 3 numbers of the serial number then the letter?

Oh boy! That holster is rough. It's had some sloppy repairs done to it unfortunately, and the belt loops look to be riveted back on as well.

              Locking block matches though.

I won't comment on price, as everyone is entitled to ask whatever they want to, but if you want my opinion, I would pass on this one if it were me.

Looks like a rat nibbled on one of the belt loops; I've seen similar rodent damage to other leather goods!

IMO the price seems significantly too high . . . . this is a very common pistol and it is in less-than-optimal condition; the holster adds little (if any) value do to its poor condition.

Unless the price gets cut to about 1/2 of what is being asked, I would pass and keep looking for a nicer example.

Totally agree. Overpriced in my opinion.

*cue referring back to the earlier FB post where everyone piled in 'Oh yeah, that's a great price!'*
