    Walther PPK (Vet bring back)

My Father-in-Law served in the 42nd Infantry in WWII. He is the reason that I got started in collecting TR medals and Insignia. He brought back a few items (EKII, Sudetenland, etc) and these were given to me. About a month ago my sister-in-law was going through some of his boxes (located in the attic) and found this Walther PPK. We are not sure when he acquired it. Perhaps 1945, we just don't know.
It appears to be in decent shape, I believe that it is a 1935 model. The photo is blurry but it might have a "Crown over N" mark on the side? Any comments or information would be helpful.
    Thanks, Randy (Polizei collector)

Awesome PPK! Just out of curiosity, pull the slide back and look inside to see if it has been electropenciled on the underside of the slide with the same serial number.... Chris..

Very nice and it appears to be a commercial PPK.

Very nice PPK, made in 1935.
In spite of the Crown/N commercial mark, most of these guns were privately purchased by Wehrmacht officers.
Yours is in very nice condition and it is a keeper for sure - even more as part of the family heirloom.
            Congratulations!

It has been a few months but I have a question. If I decide to test fire this gun, which ammo should I use? Perhaps .32 ACP Remington or Winchester? I've never owned anything larger than a .22 Thanks, Randy

Either will be fine. You can also buy .32 ACP +P which should be avoided, as it is loaded to higher velocity and pressure.
