    Phosphate high power

I recently picked up a phosphate high power. Serial number is 200***. Wondering how rare these are. It has the original unmarked magazine . It has old german letters engraved on the backstrap .

I was not aware of any practice of phosphate Finishing of wartime German contract HPs. The 200,000 range was solidly mid war and mid-production range.

Same here. My 46XXX b is very late production and still blued.

Is it possible that the bluing is so faded away and it now looks like phosphate?

Back in the 50s or 60s there was one importer, (not sure if was Walter Craig or hunter's lodge or who) that parkerized a number of guns that came in rough or will little blue. Not sure how long they did this but it has caused a lot of confusion over the years. BTW this was done before they were import marking the guns.
