    Luger on Lanyard Photo

Cropped from a larger photo. WW 2 period "full shots" of exposed "Luger on Lanyard" photos are few and far between...at best, you mostly just see the lanyard disappear into the Luger holster while the gun is being carried on the hip. In this instance, this Wehrmacht member was escorting captured English Prisoners during the Dunkirk battles....

Possibly the complete photo will generate a little more interest...

Great picture! Thanks for sharing. Indeed it is rather rare image of P08 on lanyard. Is it standard, regulation, German lanyard or something else? Would be nice if somebody could post a contemporary picture of original P08 lanyard.

Very nice photo of a rare accoutrement.

Here are some more photos. Portuguese Luger lanyard, 2 varients, and the 3rd one is supposedly the German lanyard.
Last photo is Bulgarian officer wearing one.

One of the more commonly used lanyards by the Germans was the bread bag strap.

            GWA,
Would you happen to have a pic of this to add to this interesting thread?

            Thanks

Yes William I do. It's a WWI trench raiding party back from their work with some British POWs. I've actually read the official German directive regarding trench raiding procedures and equipment that describes the use of pockets and lanyards rather than holsters and belts.

It's been so long since I've posted photos on this forum that I 've forgotten how to do it.

If you want to email me the pic, I would be happy to post to this thread.
                Thanks
