I have been around milsurps longer than you have been off the nappy's and you will learn those "super duper moderator god experts buddy buddy's who pat each other on the back every time they make up some dumb ass reason without any data or proof of any kind DONT MEAN SQUAT. There reasoning is faulty with no knowledge of machine variation never mind people variation within manufacturing processes. They also do NOT have enough data points to make a logical assumption ,but yet they do it anyway. I took the rifle sale down foosman because you bore me and also have zero knowledge of the fundamentals of manufacturing and tooling never mind how it is applied to product variation.
Study six sigma as I have for 10 years then apply it for another 30 and you too will get a good laugh at these arm chair engineers ….. and authoring a book of rubbish doesn't make it so

All the mud slinging aside. This isn't the worst bolt renumber job I've seen, but it is undeniably a renumbered bolt. Sorry, but the photos of the original do make it abundantly clear.

Abundantly clear that they were produced in a different year?? on a different shift, by a different person

you cant argue with ignorance, so I will end it here with your undeniable, and also data less conclusions

I agree with the different year.
          2019 perhaps.
No need to give the data, Forssmann covered the details quite nicely.

It seems you're convinced that whoever I intended to purchase the rifle for as well as my age is the best material you have to attempt to insult me, which it doesn't. Meanwhile, I have not insulted you, only question the authenticity of your rifle. You love to cite other forums as validation for you rifle, yet you never cite the big picture. One person said it's good, immediately followed by "I'm not good at the humpy game," and said wait for others to speak on it. And the last person to comment was you, with....wait for it.....

"I was hoping a few experts would chime in here?????"

That shows you'll accept "data less" (your words, not mine) praise for your rifle, but wont accept picture comparison scrutiny. If only you took some time out of your long life and learned how to accept criticism in a more productive way.

I get it you don't see the whole picture. The buddy buddy group on K98k will not speak up on Gunboards forum. They are the same people that bad mouth the gun on K98k same name get it like frossmann is yours they are also on the GunBoards but the GB forum is much bigger and in the public eye I am so glad you saw the post on GB !!!! now sit back and watch what happens.... they will be as quite as a mouse

This is the end of this post.... you may continue talking amongst yourselves

I hope I'm not offending anyone by joining this discussion but I've been collecting trading 98Ks, P.38s, etc. since the late 50s when I usually bought them from the vets who returned with them. Without a lot of boring details, I've become familiar with the most knowledgeable collectors and reputable dealers for decades and one thing all these individuals have in common is that they avoid forums. The overabundance of instant "experts" and inexperienced moderators is beyond tiresome. One vocal "expert" on a forum mentioned in this thread is known to me and according to his Gunboards title, he has been a member there since he was three years old.

I'm now retired and only attend shows and am still able to find falsely maligned firearms and accessories at shows for great prices because some nut said that the item "wasn't right." This happened most recently at the last Ft. Worth show and I am grateful for the experience. Anyone familiar with academic standards of evaluation probably realizes that this dimension is frequently missing from threads. As is often the case, these discussions turn into a verbal lynch mob when the uninformed enlist the efforts of confederates who are even less knowledgeable and no useful purpose is served by the discussion. I joined this forum primarily as a lurker because of its abundance of accumulated information.

I dont sit around waiting for your replies.

Again, you fail to provide the whole story. One person on GB gave you a definitive "its real," while one other literally says "I dont claim to be an expert." Meanwhile, people on this forum and k98 have doubts.

So what do you want from me? Because you end your posts like your through discussing it then attempt to taunt like a child with "ha gotcha!" posts. Do you want me to accept the opinions of some while ignoring others? Do you want me to turn a blind eye to the doubters and tell you your rifle is authentic? My purpose in starting this thread was to get opinions on your rifle, I got them...on 2 separate forums. I got photos to help me compare between rifles. I made my choice not buy your rifle, and you took it as an insult like you got picked last for football teams.
