Can you post a clear pic of the paint in the ' gesichert " marking under the safety lever ?
The paint in the 41 , byf and P.08 is not factory .
A pic of the inside of the grips would be good also .
What is the letter under the serial on the frame .
I am not doudting the authenticity of your gun but your pics do not show enough .
Thanks

This black gripped P-08 is one of seven I own but this one is the nicest I've ever seen. Just the slighest bit of wear on the high edge of the side plate and a near perfect left side muzzle.

The grip inside pic would still be nice to see what type they are . There is a study on them on Luger gunboards as far as type 1-6 and what serial number range . That was the reason for the pic request and suffix question . My 41 byf with black grips is u suffix with type 6 grips .
Don't have any decent pics of it but the wood grip one is s suffix and in decent shape . Holster has never had a belt in it .
As stated I was not trying to discredit your gun but I have followed Lugers for some time myself and have learned caution .
Nice looking gun but the pics could be better .

You might want to try a post at the U.S. Militaria forum, under the "Individual and Unit Research" section; the posters there are usually very helpful and could, I believe, make some progress as you have the soldier's name and serial number

Good luck!

Sticky thread " Black Grips Data Request " .
You will find much good info and a list of reported guns and type of grip .
Most x suffix guns reported have type six grips .
My 41 byf 1234 u has type 6 also .
Good info on telling the types apart also .
