    My $85.00 Estate Sale Find

Sometimes you win - Sometimes you lose! Today was my day to win one.
This is a Heeres Kampfpistole made by Walther in 1941. Just wanted to share these pictures with the other members. Enjoy.....

P08 - To answer your question - The Kampfpistole, at first glance looks to be the standard German 27mm Leuchtpistole (Flare Pistol) but instead of a smooth barrel, was rifled with five grooves and a right hand twist. Because of the rifling, a flare projectile made for the Leuchtpistole could not be used. The "Z" mark stamped in the left side allows for easy differentation between the two types of pistol.
The Kampfpistole was designed to fire the standard projectiles made for the Gewehrgranat Gerät cup type grenade launcher for the K98-k. I'm not sure, but think they were made only by Walther "ac" and Erma "ayf". Accessories included a special sight that mounted in the hole in the frame above the grips and a shoulder stock.
At first blush, these pistols are easy to overlook as just another flare pistol. I'm pretty sure that is what happened at today's auction. There were several gun guys there, but I think I was the only one who knew what it was.
Hopefully, Greg Baker will read this and add much more information than I will ever know.

Darrell - I'm not sure exactly what these things are selling for. I just don't see them that often, although there are usually a few at the SoS. My guess would be 3-4 times what I paid.

                  Thanks for all your comments....

I have seen one of these in the past and that's what I was told (converted Flaregun to Grenade Launcher).

I also heard that these are big $$$$

                        Shoulder Stock for Kampfpistole

If I recall correctly, a while back Doug Smith of FGS, Inc. in Ohio advertised spare shoulder stocks for the Kampfpistole. I believe that the stocks were originals that came out of the Ukraine, with Doug's extensive supply of the "dipped" re-blue P.38 pistols that he has been selling for years.

I think Doug's web site is FGS.com. If not, a quick web search should turn up his contact information.

Good find, and I hope you locate a stock to complete the rig.
