Both have been through rebuild at some point. One is marked with the RIA and FK indicating rebuild at Rock Island Arsenal during WWII while Frank Krack was the foreman in charge of inspection. The slide is from 1918 production.

The other pistol has a replacement slide of still known origin, but show up occasionally on rebuilds.

The original finish would have been blue, but were given a phosphate finish during rebuild.

This is an original finish from late 1918.

Wrong grips too. Both are from 1911A1's.

Both pistols are rebuilds, and parts were upgraded where needed. Very few of the original wood grips survived in a condition that allowed them to be used again. Since they are rebuilds the newer grips would not be considered incorrect. Both slide stops are 1911A1 also.

There was an attempt made by the rebuild facilities to reuse any serviceable 1911 parts on the 1911 receivers, as they didn't want the older parts being used on the newer 1911A1 receivers.

That would be about $1700, and too high in the states. Have no idea of gun prices in France. The CMP is starting to sell surplus 1911/1911A1 pistols, and looks like the price is going to be around $1000, and I look for most, if not all, to be rebuilds.
