Which Cleaning Set

Hi there,

Does anybody recognize this cleaning set for what rifle it is? Was found in a home in Germany near the Belgian border.

I believe it's a 1917 30.06 cleaning kit.

It was first issued with the 1903 Springfield. One end held oil and the other end a weight, thong, and brush for field cleaning. The early version had a straight tube where the post WWI kit was rounded on the oil reservoir end. The other end had a leather pad to prevent it from rattling against the butt plate.

Can't tell about yours, but it was originally nickel plated brass.
